The Oktoberfest is known as the largest Volksfest (People's Fair) in the world. In 1999 there were six and a half million visitors to the 0.42 km field, which is bigger tawn 4 standard football pitches. 72% of the people are from Bavaria, 19% will be from the rest of Germany and the remaining 9% of visitors will come from the surrounding EU-countries and other non-European countries including the United States, Canada, Australia and East Asia. Celebrities to this year's festival include film star Samuel L.
